The Atitara Craft Center, as we know it today, is the result of an ambitious modernization project. The old center, inaugurated in 1980, had been deemed outdated and dangerous by an inspection agency commissioned by the Paea town hall. To guarantee the safety of the artisans and the public, the municipality decided to build a new building, modern, functional aspects and especially better located, slightly set back from the ring road to avoid the risk of accidents.
This new space offers:
- Individual rooms allowing each craftsman to exhibit and sell their creations in a professional setting.
- Improved traffic flow for visitors, with an airy and pleasant space.
- A showcase of artisanal work, thanks to a simple architecture adapted to the needs of creators.

The Atitara Craft Centre comprises approximately 11 rooms outfits by different artisans, each bringing their own universe, Its “technical” detectors. and artistic sensibility.

I loved being able to watch them work live, to feel that everything is truly made on site, and to observe that the Prices remain very affordableIn fact, you can find some there. unique and often very original pieces, like Filla's wool creations which are completely out of the ordinary. A big favorite of mine is also the personalization Vavitu, who creates unique tifaifai (traditional quilts), and Vahine, who customizes her necklaces to your liking… that's exactly what we love about local crafts. And the cherry on top in Paea: Parking is child's play thanks to a very large parking lot.
