The Tahitian sun can be  very intense  , especially around midday. To avoid sunburn  , be sure to bring high-protection  sunscreen  (SPF 50 or higher) and apply it regularly. And please, choose a cream that won't harm the coral  . Ask your pharmacist for advice. Coral is already under enough pressure from rising water temperatures; there's no need to add to its stress. A wide-brimmed hat  or cap  is essential to protect your face and head from the sun's rays. Sunglasses  with UV protection are also crucial for protecting your eyes. Finally, bring lip balm  with SPF to prevent chapped and sunburned lips.

Shoes and accessories

To fully enjoy your stay in Tahiti, choose the right shoes . Flip-flops (known as "savates" in Tahiti) or comfortable sandals are perfect for the beach and walks around town. For more adventurous excursions , such as hiking in the mountains or discovering hidden waterfalls, opt for sturdy and comfortable hiking boots . But simple sandals, like the old-fashioned plastic shoes from your childhood, can be extremely practical for walking on slippery paths or reef flats .
