Starting point and access to the trail

The hike begins in the village of Boo, on the west coast of the main island. From the town hall, you have to walk about 200 meters north to find a concrete road quite steep leading to a communications antenna station. Furthermore, it's thanks to this station that you have internet access on the island. So please avoid touching the connections šŸ˜‰ Go around this post to the left and you will find a panel indicating the start of a path. All you have to do is follow it. You can't go wrong.

Duration, distance and elevation gain

    • Travel time It took our group 1 hour and 15 minutes. This doesn't include the descent, breaks, or waiting time in sections with ropes where passing is impossible.
    • Round trip duration 3.5 hours, including breaks, descent, waiting for sections with ropes, and photos at the summit
    • Total distance approximately 3 kilometers
    • Positive elevation : approximately 350 meters
    • Difficulty Moderate to difficult, as some sections are steep, with ropes to aid climbing.

Our feelings

Our group consisted of 5 people, 27 to 62 year-oldsWe had hired a guide, TevaitiHe was lovely, attentive, and reassuring throughout the entire journey. He can be contacted at Tarona RestaurantAnd what if some of us were worried before departure because of the steep sections with ropesFinally, upon arrival, everyone declared themselves ready to do it again.

What was your impression of the difficulty of this hike?x

As for me, I I'm a little afraid of the void., flexibility is not my strong point but my physical condition is adequate. Finally, I did not sufferNeither on the ascent nor on the descent. It is true that we did some numerous breaks and that most of the climb is done in the shadeUltimately, I am happy to have won thanks to the group and to Tevaiti my apprehension. The view from above is certainly one of the most beautiful in the worldFrankly, the reward is more than commensurate with the effort put in.

The summit is actually a rocky platform on which you can fit about ten. In fact, we needed wait a little before being able to take photos. However, during this wait, the magic happens. The moment is truly intense et something exceptional for you.
